Monthly Archives: July 2013

We are now past the two month mark into the patch, and so far we’ve been fortunate enough to have had quite a yield. Apart from the herbs, the cos lettuces and kale were the first to take off and pick from, producing enough leaf to eat from almost daily as were the consecutive fortnightly sowing of radish seeds. Our silverbeet is thriving and has been a great winter staple to the kitchen cuisines.

Not all good news however, after our six bean seedlings kindly gave us a small yield, five of them decided they’d had enough and packed it in. Not to worry though some sugar snap pea seeds were quickly sown into their place and are heading sky high on the homemade bamboo trellis.

It’s only early days into our veggie patch project but already we are experiencing first hand the satisfaction that comes with growing your own food!
