The world championship race has kicked off again for 2013 with 11 time champion Kelly Slater up against a super in form current world champ Joel Parkinson yesterday at Kirra Beach. Kelly managed to snag the victory with an almost perfect ten on a screamer of a barrel, didn’t think he was ever going to come out. Here are some photographs from Tuesday’s day of competition at Gold Coast’s Snapper Rocks!

For the second consecutive year running Brisbane played host to the ‘King of Coops’, Australia’s skateboarding calender event held at Coorparoo Skatepark and proudly hosted by close family members Project Distribution. The sun was shining, the snags were sizzling and if you didn’t make it down you missed out on some of the best skateboarding Australia had to offer! This years crown went to the not so little anymore, Joel McIlroy with his arsenal of super smooth, mind blowing moves, a well deserved champion. Below are some of my photographs from the day, be sure to click for a bigger view.

Last weekend whilst passing through the West End Markets, we did what we usually do, grabbed a fresh brew from the Gypsy Coffee Cart and pulled up a wooden crate to listen to some live local music. Although today was special, it wasn’t local musicians putting on a show it was The Blue Ruins, a father/daughter, blues/folk/roots duo from the southern coast of NSW.
With the winter westerlies blowing a gale down the Brisbane River and the warmth of the sun glimmering through the branches of the Moreton Bay Figs – The Blue Ruins, Allan with his intricate lead overtones and lead licks, coupled with Kate’s soulful voice and heavy handed strumming of her left hand strung, upside down acoustic, captivated the eclectic mix of market goers.
The Blue Ruins are currently on their national tour so if you’re interested in catching one of their live shows be sure to check their website for dates. If you’re interested in discovering some new music you can download their EP Titled ‘Tin Pot Alley’ from iTunes by clicking here, you won’t be disappointed.
Here are some photographs I shot on the day.
