I’ve been an avid collector of childrens books for a while now. Whenever I visit a bookshop I find myself stuck in the childrens area and leaving with yet another book. When we do eventually have kids of our own they’ll sure be in heaven.
I’d like to share with you a small video of one of my all time favourite writer/illustrators, Anna Walker. I was fortunate enough to visit the recent ‘LOOK! The Art of Australian Picture Books’ exhibition and see some of Anna’s originals up close and personal, which I could happily sit and gaze at for hours. Her work draws inspiration from her surroundings and creates a magical sense of curiosity and wonder, two key elements which define a perfect children’s book.
Next time you’re in the bookshop pay a visit to this little back section of the store, pull up a bean bag and get yourself lost in one of Anna’s books… guaranteed to make you leave smiling!

Were you like me and always fascinated with the game Mouse Trap as a child? Meet Melvin the Mini Machine, a portable 38-step Rube Goldberg machine and predecessor to the originally built Melvin, a social media experiment by Netherlands design studio Hey Hey Hey. For the complete background story visit the official website which delves more into the technical side of Melvin and his bigger brother. This will get your brain ticking and in action for a Monday morning.
I had the honor & privilege of capturing Hiromi & Jeremy’s special day in a intimate beachside ceremony on Gold Coast’s Burleigh Headland. It was a fantastic afternoon with perfect light and a pleasure working with such a beautiful couple. More images to come… In the meantime I hope you enjoy the film. Thanks goes to CĂ©line for the introductory filming on her iPhone and for assisting in all the light metering on the day!

We are happy to share with you our most recent web design project www.tourdetea.com.au
Tour de Tea, familiar faces on the Brisbane market circuit, came to us needing an online eCommerce solution to expand their already growing presence to the wider tea drinking community of Australia.
Waxlyric was able to design, build & implement a user friendly website along with personally taking care of all their related product photography needs, right here in our studio. (sampling many of their great teas whilst shooting was an added bonus!).
If you’re looking for a special mothers day gift or maybe even some tea or accessories for yourself? I highly recommend heading over to www.tourdetea.com.au and support a great local business.
I’ll leave you with some of the tasty shots from the shoot.

On the back of the last swell to hit the east coast which was quickly fading, we decided to pack up the car and head north to Jady & Jayson’s at Moffat’s Beach for some Easter Sunday wave sliding action. We surfed the beachies nearby in the morning and after a (yet again) delicious BBQ at the Paul’s beach house headed down to Moffat’s point for round two. I opted out of the arvo surf in favour of strolling around the rocks to take some photographs in the beautiful glow of afternoon light.
